Methven resort, in particular Richard and his new front-of-house colleague, get 20/10 in our view for consistent, kind, responsive and welcoming hosting. We keep coming back to again and again, year after year. The rooms, for ski season, are warm, clean, with a full bathroom and excellent complimentary breakfast - really what more could you ask for? At night, there is a great restaurant with roaring open fire, with couches and games, and a pool table for adults and children to play on. Plenty of space, very much like a European style ski lodge where everyone hangs out together after a long day on the slopes. No problem is too big a problem for Richard and his team - Richard needs a gold medal for being such a great host. We will keep coming back to this amazing gem of hospitality in the South Island - having lived in Switzerland and stayed a lot in the European alps, we feel this is one of the only places we've found that offers the same sort of warmth and welcome to regular travellers. Keep up the good work Methven Resort!!

The staff & their service was AMAZING! Very accommodating, personable, willing to go the extra mile for us by keeping the restaurant open for us, thoughtful, special little personal touches. Delicious menu, very generous portions - worth it!! Absolutely perfect for our whanau group and super family friendly. Catered to our wheelchair friendly requirements to a tee! The complimentary breakfast was awesome!! Highly recommend and will definitely stay there again!!

The staff were really friendly and helpful, the rooms a little dated but very clean. Great to have everything you need on site and a short drive to the Opuke Pools. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, cozy with the fire, and the food delicious, cooked brilliantly. The pastry's at breakfast were an excellent treat warm out of the oven. Beds were comfy and a good configuration for a family or three adults. A great winter retreat, good value, lots of fun, would go back again.

We a were delighted to find this property on our latest trip to Mt Hutt. The hotel is situated in the centre on Methven just a short walk from the local pubs, restaurants and hot pools. Room was large enough for a family of 4 with daily room service, tea, coffee facilities and toiletries. The complimentary breakfast was a nice surprise. The centre are with kids area, pool table and fireplace was lovely to replay and the kids could meet friends. The food served in the bar was excellent. It was great value for money.

Great place to stay. The room was really nice with tea making facilities and a mini fridge. They also have a pool table that you can play for free. The price we payed was worth it and it wasn’t expensive for what we got. The best thing was when we arrived they told us there was complementary continental breakfast which wasn’t mentioned on the booking. It had more than we expected, delicious pastries, 2 types of bread, variety of spreads, yogurt, cereal and more. We will definitely come back!

Spacious room. Cleaness. Ease of checking in after hours. Quiet rural setting on the outskirts of town, yet a very easy and short walk to centre of Methven. Interesting architectural elements inside and out. Nice views from the breakfast lounge. Very friendly day staff work in this hotel. Easy to walk to many lovely pubs in Methven from the hotel Discovered a charming fairy walk by the racecourse. The hot mineral water spa complex in Methven is a relaxing pleasure to enjoy. Liked that it's not overcrowded due to their booking schedules and observed occupancy limits . Some unusual curiosity shops and cafes in town Came across many helpful and welcoming business owners in this town, including the staff at the hotel. Late Summer season has already an off season vibe but enjoyed that the town was not run over. Good idea to have historic plaques with a bit of history on many of the buildings and their original purpose when newly built.

Everything was perfect! Richard was an awesome host - opened the bar and lit the fire so our friends and ourselves could enjoy pre-pool drinks, even going as far to drop us off and pick us up. Rooms were a great size, bed comfortable - had everything a guest would need, even upgraded our friends so they could stay a couple of doors down. Dinner was fabulous, as was the continental breakfast, the staff were top notch and friendly. The hotel is tired in places however it can clearly be seen it is being upgraded, but this doesn't impact one's stay. Thanks so much Richard and team for a fabulous stay - we will definitely be back.

This is an older hotel but room was spacious and warm and had everything we needed. Had a good sized dinner in the restaurant at a very reasonable price and also enjoyed a great continental breakfast the following morning. The standout for this stay is the staff. From reception to the bar /restaurant to housekeeping - everyone was so friendly and welcoming and genuinely keen to ensure we had an enjoyable stay. Will definitely stay here again. Highly recommended.

Great location, good convenient breakfast, heater available in room for cold weather, lots of parking. The Indian guy taking care of breakfast was amazing, alone took care of everything and politely greeted everyone and was always checking on everyone. He was simply the best customer service we received on our trip.

Perfect weekend ski retreat, warm welcome at reception on arrival . Spacious third floor studio room and a bath. We had a roast meal in the restaurant which had couches.by the fire and later had skiers winding down after an epic day on 83cm fresh snow. I loved the room plenty of space and warm . Wandering down town to Opuke hot spring in the evening. Complementary breakfast offered from 7.15am makes it good value for luxury feel.plenty of free parking , I caught a bus from door to Mt Hutt.
